Dr. Brad Snodgrass
Picture
Meet Dr. William Bradley Snodgrass. Many of you know me as “Brad.” I began my journey on this planet four decades ago as a newborn baby in the Stettler hospital. The Stettler community was very nurturing throughout my childhood, and I am thankful for the many friendships developed over the years. I married my Wm. E Hay High School sweetheart, Lena, and we now have two strapping (not so young) sons: Will-14 and Rowan-12. After High School, I embarked on a career in Para-medicine. I worked as an EMT around the Edmonton area, and eventually found home in Medicine Hat, Ab. In Medicine Hat, I worked as a flight and ground paramedic. I also worked as a college educator for the paramedic program at Medicine Hat College. A decade later, Lena and I, packed up the family and moved to Beaumont, AB. Lena ran the Shoppers Drug Mart, and I returned to post-secondary education at the University of Alberta. Several years later, I graduated with degrees from the Bachelor of Pharmacy, and Doctor of Pharmacy programs at UofA. After graduating, I worked as a clinical pharmacist at the Royal Alexandra hospital in Edmonton. As the third decade of our family adventure came to a close, we were given the opportunity to move back to our hometown. Lena and I were both very excited to practice as community pharmacists for our friends and family, the community that raised us. We look forward to the future with optimism, as we truly feel at home here in Stettler. I also still love being a paramedic, so don’t be surprised if you see me working with Stettler and District Ambulance Service. Fun Facts: Brad will be the President of Stettler’s Rotary club in 2021. Brad can often be found at White Sands, golfing at the Pheasantback and Stettler courses, or at the curling rink. Brad’s favorite board game is Trivial Pursuit
Taryn Spady

Meet Taryn Spady (nee Zimmer) Taryn grew up in Hardisty, and first went to Red Deer College to complete her Pharmacy Technician certificate. After working for a year in Innisfail she decided to return to school and completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy at the UofA. She spent her summers working at Savage Value Drug Mart, and went on to work there as a Pharmacist for 2 years. She then became Pharmacy Manager at Pharmasave in Stettler, and eventually came over to us at Shoppers Drug Mart. Taryn is one of our pharmacists with Additional Prescribing Authority, where she can assess minor ailments and prescribe when needed. This can be exceptionally handy for cases like cold sores, strep throat, or other non-emergent needs. Taryn also takes care in looking at more comprehensive cases, and enjoys meeting with patients to assess their current medications, help simplify regimens, and manage their ongoing health by making adjustments when needed. More recently, Taryn has taken a lot of interest in Travel Medicine and Smoking Cessation. You can book in an appointment at any time with her to make sure your health needs are taken care of! Fun Facts: Taryn and Brad both took their pharmacy studies together at the UofA, and were even carpool buddies. Taryn will be partaking in a study focusing on Atrial Fibrillation with the UofA – keep your eyes out for screening clinics to see if you’d qualify! Taryn grew up in a family of 7 and kept her parents very busy with many sports and activities like baseball, dance, and hockey. Taryn and her husband will be starting a family of their own with the arrival of their first baby this spring.
Lena Snodgrass

Meet Lena Snodgrass! Lena Snodgrass (nee Hansel) is the owner of Snodgrass Pharmacy and also practices as a prescribing pharmacist there! Lena grew up and went to school in Gadsby until Grade 9. Her family then moved to Stettler and she completed her high school years in Stettler. After completing high school in Stettler, Lena moved to the big city of Edmonton and started her post secondary education there. In 2003, Lena graduated from UofA’s Faculty of Pharmacy with a BscPharm and moved to Medicine Hat to be with her husband Brad Snodgrass. While in Medicine Hat, Lena and Brad had two amazing children. Will is currently 14 years old and Rowan is 12 years old. During Lena’s time in Medicine Hat she was able to work in community pharmacy and nursing homes and within 2 years of graduating became a pharmacy manager at Safeway Pharmacy. She worked for Safeway for roughly 10 years as a student and then pharmacist but then it was time to move. Brad wanted to go back to school! From there the family moved to Beaumont where Lena bought her first Shoppers Drug Mart. Lena owned and operated Snodgrass Pharmacy Ltd in Beaumont for 8.5 years and when the opportunity arose to purchase a pharmacy in Stettler she had to take the plunge! Brad and Lena decided to purchase Savage Value Drug Mart in 2017 and convert it to a Shoppers Drug Mart. They knew it wouldn’t be an easy transition but they were excited to come back home, be closer to family and be able to service our friends, family and neighbours that we grew up with. As a prescribing pharmacist, Lena loves to help people treat all sorts of minor ailments, she specializes in dermatology and travel medicine. Lena also is licensed to perform cosmetic and therapeutic Botox (one of the first pharmacists in Alberta to be licensed for this). Please feel free to contact the pharmacy and speak to Lena about any business related need and speak to her directly if you would like to book a travel or Botox consult. Lena is so happy to be back in Stettler serving the community and raising her family her with her husband Brad. Fun Fact: Brad and Lena are high school sweet hearts and have actually known each other since they were two! Lena is really short! Often people don’t even know she’s working because she can’t see over the ledge in the pharmacy!!! Don’t be afraid to ask if she is working! Lena and Brad’s son Will works part time as a merchandiser in the store! Rowan is next!! Lena loves hanging out with her friends, golfing, baking, puzzling, painting, and exercising.
